What to Expect with our Mobile Hearing Testing

THE GOAL

To protect employees’ hearing by monitoring hearing levels annually so any deterioration of hearing is identified early. With early detection, protective measures can be implemented to prevent progression of hearing loss. Obtaining this goal will ensure your organization is OSHA compliant.

THE TEST

Before the hearing test begins, our CAOHC Certified Technicians conduct a hearing health history for each employee to identify possible causes or contributors to hearing loss. Next, hearing tests are administered in quiet testing booths utilizing fully OSHA-compliant microprocessor audiometers and headset transducers. Per OSHA guidelines, background noise levels are monitored throughout the test and testing is automatically paused if noise level limits are exceeded.

THE RESULTS

Immediately following each test, the employee is given an Employee Notification Report illustrating their test results. Any standard threshold shifts indicating potential hearing loss would be reviewed with the employee by our certified technician. However, any final STS confirmations and OHSA possible recordables are determined by review of the audiograms by a Workplace Integra Doctor of Audiology.

THE REVIEW

All OSHA compliant testing results covering STS, possible recordables, audiologist reviews and employee test summaries are provided to the client within 48 hours via our web-based client portal. Audiometric equipment and testing environment OSHA documentation such as calibration and background noise level reports are also provided in the client portal.

Sound and Dosimetry Surveys

Did you know OSHA recommends industrial companies to complete a Sound and Dosimetry Study every two years or after any modifications to a work center? If the noise levels exceed OSHA limits, then an organization is required to implement a hearing conservation program. To make this determination, Workplace Integra’s Occupational Audiologist can provide an extensive report documenting facility sound level measurements, analysis and recommended actions for OSHA compliance.
